Lax Alumni Hall Of Fame Bio - John Dziedzic

HOF - John F. Dziedzic   

 

Our next inductee into the 2012 Hall of Fame is John Dziedzic.  John was a 1975 graduate of Auburn High School. He lives in Victor, NY with his bride, Debbie and their son, Jonathan.   

 

John was a three-sport athlete, playing football, hockey and lacrosse. As a defensive back in football, John was named to the CNY All Star Team, his junior year. In lacrosse, John’s accomplishments still rank him among the top ten players for Auburn High. He was named to the CNY All Star team in his sophomore, junior and senior years. John is eighth in Total Points in a Career (134), seventh in Average Goals per Game in a Career (2.98), and eleventh in Total Assists in a Season (29). John was Assistant Captain for the hockey team and a member of the CNY All Star Team in his senior year.  That year, he also had the opportunity to try out for the USA Olympic Hockey Team.   

 

John's college career started at Canton College where he played two years of hockey, winning the Junior College National Hockey Championship his freshman year. In his sophomore year, Canton was runner up in the National Championship game and John received Second Team All American honors that year.   John continued his education at Clarkson College and was a walk on player for their hockey team.  At the end of his senior year, he had the opportunity to tryout for the 1980 USA Olympic Hockey Team.  John also was able to play lacrosse for Clarkson and had a fine career with Second Team All League honors and was co-recipient of Clarkson’s Athlete of the Year.    

 

After graduation, John had opportunities to try out with some professional hockey teams the likes of, the Detroit Red Wings Rookie Camp, the Quebec Nordiques American Hockey Team in Syracuse, the Cincinnati Central Hockey League and the Erie Blades.    

 

John is giving back to the sports he loves by getting involved with coaching. He has been Assistant Hockey and Lacrosse coach at RIT and Norwich University. John has been head hockey coach at Rush-Henrietta High School and Geneseo High School 

and has been coaching youth hockey in Fairport and Webster.  In his free time, John still likes to play hockey and golf, and swims.
